Circumstantial Parenthood
Plenty of people who want to stay at home with their children: Maybe you’re religious and want to home school, maybe you have a fundamental problem with day care, maybe you think that no one can wipe your baby’s butt as well as you (perhaps you have a patented dab-dab-wipe move that will revolutionize wipes forever.)
We are not those people.
How many people have found themselves out of work and were therefore forced to “just stay home and spend more time with the kids”? It seems like you are doing something noble, but it’s not really your first choice in vocation. I’m not saying you don’t love your kids — of course you do. You just think that wiping snot and reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar is not the most challenging use of your education and experience.
That’s okay. You can admit it. This is a safe place.
We know we’re not the only ones out there who — through no fault and no desire of her own — are home with the kid(s). Our voices should be heard. Comment, e-mail, send smoke signals or just nod wryly to yourself in recognition as you read this blog (and then take a photo of the wry nodding and e-mail it to us).
We are loud, we are proud, we are bored.
